The Across The Tracks Records Story
ATT started life as Disclocator, a small shop in Redcross Street, Brighton, in the mid 80’s owned by Ed Farn. At the end of 1988 Alan Childs came aboard with a background of collectable record sales in record collector magazine. In May 1989, Across The Tracks opened in Sydney Street. It was an immediate success. More shops followed in Trafalgar Street and Warwick Street precinct in Worthing. However in 1994 ATT moved everything to its current location;110 Gloucester Road.
Across The Tracks Today
ATT had an exterior make over in 2011, and inside some of the CD racks had gone to make way for more vinyl. We travel far and wide to buy quality stock and there is nothing more depressing than walking into a shop full of eBay rejects,so we our shop is well stocked with rare vinyl some of which we will highlight here . The choice items shown on this site are usually also available for purchase at the shop. As there is no computer at the retail site it may be advisable to ring first, on 01273 677906 for availability.
The shop policy is to try and keep comprehensive sections on everything we know about. Therefore there is NO drum and bass, garage, hard-core or any of the myriad of dance sub-divisions that are popular for this afternoon. there are very few new releases unless the record companies are feeling generous. However we do try to keep a cop of every Beatles album on vinyl, likewise The Stones, Zeppelin, Bowie etc etc. Also a decent range of Blues, Folk, Rock & Roll, Punk, Indie, Hip Hop, Metal, Soundtracks, Easy Listening, Electronic etc. Loads of Modern Jazz huge selection of quality Soul and Funk and a brilliant rack full of Reggae albums. Last but not least we are enthusiastic buyers & sellers of quality Classical vinyl LP’s and always have an ever-changing selection.
